Master Di Xian Guo Lou Jiang
(1858-1932)
Master Di Xian has a
disciple called Gou Lou Jiang. Gou Lou Jiang means a man who mended the cracked
bowl and wok (in ancient time).
Gou Lou Jiang was an
illiterate.
He was uneducated and
unable to read. So after he became a monk(Chu Jia), he could not join the other
monks to chant the Sutra( Monk’s morning and evening practice).
Master Di Xian worried the
other monks would look down on him, so1 he was sent to a small and old abandon
temple in the country side.
Master Di Xian taught him
to recite Namo Amituofo.
That was his only daily
practice nothing else.
Master Di Xian has told
him while he was awaking he should Nian Fo. When he felt tired he could take a
rest.
Gou Lou Jiang Fa Shi was a
straight minded person.
He follow exactly what Master
Di Xian has told him to do.
Master Di Xian has found a
lady to cook and wash Gou’s clothes so Gou’s could concentrate in Nian Fo.
He has never came out from
the temple for 3 years.
In those 3 years, he recited Namo Amituofo
diligently.
One day, he has gone out
to visit his friends.
He told the lady no need
to cook for him in the next day.
The lady thought it must
be his friend wanted to treat him lunch,
so she couldn’t border
much.
In the evening the lady
came to the temple to have a look.
She called but Gou never
answered her.
The door was not locked,
she entered the temple and to her surprise she saw Gou was standing in his room
facing the window.
His right hand was holding
the beads(Nian Zhu) whereas his left hand was holding some money(for his
funeral expenses).
The lady found that Gou
has Wang Sheng in his standing position.
She quickly called someone
rushed to inform Master Di Xian.
The journey (for the
person to inform Master Di Xian) took one and a half day (walking).
For Di Xian Master to rush
to the temple took another one and a half day.
That means Gou Lou Jiang
has stood there for 3 days after he died (Wang Sheng).
Master Di Xian has praised
him for his diligence.
Gou recited Amituofo for
three years, he could predict
when he would Wang Sheng.
He even prepared in
advance the expenses for his funeral.
Gou’s practice was “Nian fo, resting, Nian fo, resting, Nian fo…..”
This would keep his mind
free.
(no defilement, no
delusion,
no worries etc.)
Remember that we are
Amituofo as well.
When we let go of every
thought and Nian Fo, we can be success too.
Those who has retired,
has plenty of time to
practice Nian Fo.
Nian Fo is better than
spent time in other not useful tasks.
People in this Samsara
world are working so hard to earn money, to accumulate wealth.
Now we should divert and
channel our effort in
accumulating merits for
our next life.
Recite Amituofo, you have
merits, transfer the merit to the “account” in Blissful Pure Land.
When our VISA due, we can
migrate to the world of no suffering- Xi Fang Ji Le Shi Jie.
We can be the PR or the
citizen of that Land.
The money that we have earned
in this world cannot bring along on the day we have to leave. But merits can.
The money that we keep in Oversea
bank is not safe too.
Be smart to work for
something that is permanent.
Wealth is not permanent.
Merits is permanent.
